Free Drama & Resilience project for adults with learning disabilities & autism

Source By: Access All Areas

Aimed at adults with learning disabilities and autism, Spring Back uses drama and role play to promote positive strategies to manage difficult situations. We use forum theatre, role play and drama techniques to ensure each participant develops their practical skills in: communication, relationships, healthy eating, staying active and being part of your community.

We have several places still available for new participants, particularly those living in Hackney and neighbouring boroughs.

Please find attached Easy Read flyer for further information.  We may also be able to bring a short taster session to your venue in August or September, if this is of interest.

If you would like any more information or to book a participant’s place, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Projects Coordinator Alex at or call us on 020 7613 6445.

Up to £25,000 available through the Justice and Equality Fund’s ‘Now’s the Time’ small grants programme

Source By: Rosa

Now’s the Time, the second programme from the Justice and Equality Fund, is open for applications and aims to amplify the voices of individuals and groups who are calling for an end to sexual harassment and abuse, in their workplaces and in their communities.

We want to resource imaginative, collaborative and creative grassroots activism so we are asking organisations to apply by answering the question: What would you do towards ending sexual harassment (in work places and in communities)? We want to fund:

Prevention work

Awareness raising activities

Imaginative and creative grassroots activism

Influencing work

Work with groups and communities who might face additional barriers to getting their voices heard, or might be at higher risk of sexual harassment and abuse to amplify those voices

Work that tries out new ideas

Work that replicates tried and tested approaches in new settings

Work that others can learn from

We are particularly keen to see cross-sector partnerships where the expertise of specialist voluntary sector organisations at the forefront of this work is shared with others to help drive broader change. Organisations can apply for up to £25,000

All applications must be submitted by Thursday 27th September.

Alzheimer's Society City and Hackney services - presentation

Source By: Alzheimers Society

To promote good communication with our partners,  I am planning a quarterly presentation / Q and A session about our local Alzheimer’s Society services for everyone affected by dementia in City and Hackney.

These presentations are for staff from any Health, Social Care or Voluntary organisation – and may particularly benefit new staff during their induction – or students on placement.

The next presentation will be on  Wednesday 26th September 18 at 3pm. All staff (new or existing) who would like to attend are most welcome – but - due to space - it will be necessary to book a place
